Philosophy
Our philosophy of ministry is to do our best to share the burden of Christ. Christ had a burden for evangelism as expressed in Matthew 28:19-20 and II Peter 3:10. We believe Christ has a burden for all to be saved. We want to reach our world without compromising in the areas of separation or Biblical preaching to do so. There are many tools that are valuable in getting people in a position where they can be impacted by the power of the Gospel. This ministry is not about basketball, but about Christ---and seeing those needy souls come to Him. Basketball is just a simple tool.
Our burden is to give the Lord glory in the excellence of our program. We want to be able to shine as lights in the community with an excellent program, equipment, and staff.
Our burden is to help the local church reach THEIR community. We are not interested in operating on our own, but know that the strength of Christianity lies in the local church, as God's design. We partner with local, likeminded churches that could be described as sound in doctrine, both in faith in practice, and believe in the sufficiency of Scriptures.
We also want to share the burden Christ had for revival as expressed in II Chronicles 7:14.
We believe no revival, whether local or national, has any power unless it is brought by prayer and complete dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Statement of Faith:
- We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe in the preservation of the Bible for us today.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in the Persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal imminent return in power and glory.
- We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneraton by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We belive in separation from the world and holiness as the standard for life and ministry.
- We on purpose hold a conservative stand in our music, dress, and other standards.
Vision:
There are teens, referees, coaches, and family members that may never visit a Bible-preaching church on a normal day. Their religion or their sin would keep them from doing so. Yet, many would be quick to come to a basketball tournament---a basketball tournament that could make a difference in their lives because the Gospel is preached clearly. We have many opportunities to reach our world for Christ and we must take advantage of them.
The Vision of National Hoops Ministries is to continue to reach the lost right here in America and to expand as the Lord leads to reaching the lost in other countries. National Hoops Philippines is under way and National Hoops Australia is at the very beginning stages.
Our Burden is to also do our part in impacting teens and their families with the truths found in simple discipleship. This is life changing for the new believer! Our vision is to start camps ineach country with thpurpose of using the week not only for basketball training but for intense Biblical Discipleship.
Salvation:
National Hoops Ministries uses the pastor and deacons of Westgate Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC as part of its board of directors for counsel and accountability.
